Endodontics is defined as, "the branch of dentistry concerned with disease and injuries of the soft tissues inside a tooth (the dental pulp)."
So what exactly does that mean to you? Well, it means that the inside of your tooth, called the pulp, is infected or damaged. There are a few reasons why this may occur:
Most of the time you will be aware something is wrong by pain, inflammation, bleeding or sensitivities. However, there are times when you may be completely asymptomatic (without symptoms) and your dentist will determine a root canal is necessary.
